So, my stock motorcraft pcv valve, on a 2002 f-250 5.4, started making a very loud buzzing noise. It was vibrating a lot (I could feel once I touched it). I replaced it with $3 part before I could get the OEM part ev-233. I keep hearing how aftermarket causes increased oil consumption, etc.
The real question is after I replaced the old OEM Motorcraft one, I noticed a lot smoother idle. By that, there was virtually no vibration, super smooth. I then get the new one in the mail, replace it and immediately I felt a rougher idle. The only difference between the two is that the Duralast has noticeably less suction and the ball has a smaller range of motion. I did a test with both.
The engine sounds better with the Duralast while maybe more power with the MC. There is no way to prove that, though.
