I have a Stanley brand 1.5amp battery maintainer for my X. I don't drive it much anymore. Only for towing our TT. It has worked perfect. You can hardware it to the battery so all you would have to do is either unplug the 12V connector or set it up so the 110V plug is just outside the bumper/grille.

I installed a Schumacher SE-1-12S-CA Fully Automatic Onboard Battery Charger - 1.5 Amps and it's worked perfect for me. I was having an issue with battery drain after 5 days which seems to have gone away on it's own but I can plug it in and forget it.

Same unit we use at work for trucks going to work in -50/-60F weather conditions.

I have a Battery Tender 4 bank charger. I installed the battery terminal connectors that came with the unit so they are mounted via the side terminals and just hang out the front bumper for quick access. When I know the truck is gonna sit for a few days I'll plug in both connectors and let it charge.

I have one permanently wired in on the passenger side batt. I think it is a Schumache 1.5 amp. It is water resistant and have it tied in with the block heater. Seems to work good.
