Ok I have a 1990 f-150 with a 302 engine along with an e4od tranny 4x4. My transmission is pretty usless right now, all gears except drive work, when I put it in drive and start to give it gas it is like it is limp mode. It takes the pedal almost to the floor to get it to move. But it will move just not that great in drive, I had replaced the computer a month ago because it went out, when I put the new one in the transmission went to s@!% . In the past month I have changed the trans fluid, tps, the nuetral saftey switch and cleaned all the plugs on the speed sensors. The one on the rear axle for abs, and the one on the transfer case. Im at my witts end I don't know if a rebuild is nessicary or not. If so what would it take to convert to a standard transmission. Or if its a simple problem I would like to know. Thank you!!
That E4OD transmission is electronic controlled, have you checked for codes?
Your symptoms look like there is no power to the solenoid pack.
A 1990 model year F150 with a 5L engine could have an AOD or E4OD transmission. So assuming you do have the electronic controlled E4OD are you sure you got the correct PCM (computer)?

I have no clue it bolted and plugged right in just depends on if the oreilys guy gave me the right one, how could I check?
The PCMs have the exact same pin count and location. It's the programming inside that makes one compatible with each engine/transmission combination.
Perhaps you still have the receipt with the part number they gave you? If not, you need to remove the computer (PCM) again to get the number off of it.

Assuming your truck has an E4OD, it should have an OD On/Off button on the dash or the end of the shifter, then I believe the ECC154 is not correct for your truck.
If the above assumption is correct, E4OD transmission, I believe you need ECC1765

Ok I do have a overdrive button on the dash, I will work on getting it exchanged and replaced and will report back.
I apologize for the disclaimers, but now I know for sure what transmission is in the truck. The mechanical/hydraulic AOD is more common behind a F150 w/5L engine in this vintage. Probably another reason why the parts jockey ordered the wrong PCM.
