transmission codes

hey all, i have a 02 f150 5.4 and it has 2 trans codes p0712 and p1738, just wandering if anyone can shed some light about the symptoms of these codes, my truck takes off shifts good and then all of a sudden feels like the emergency brake is being applied, then just lets loose and rolls normal again, and when i put it in reverse it feels like the brakes are applied again, then makes a loud popping noise and moves but feels like its being held back while moving, can a bad temp sensor or harness cause these issues or is it internal?

Code 712 is an open in the Trans temp. sensor circuit.
Recheck the1738 code because that may be a reporting error.
It is not on a list for the trans and year you have.
The issue seems to be related to the harness or the internal harness to the valve body.
Check out the harness and plugup at the transmission.
Check fuse #23 seating.

Good luck.

P1783 is a transmission overtemp code. That is probably due to the problem with the temp sensor. You either have a bad sensor or a damaged wire between the PCM and the sensor. Some diagnostics on the wiring will let you know whether the wiring or the sensor is the problem.

There is no fuse that has anything unique to do with it. Don't waste your time.
