Pro trailer assist

Have a 2016 XLT with pro trailer backup assist. Just put on my 20 ft camping trailer. Works great and performs better than I thought. Problem is now when my trailer is disconnected I start the truck and the default goes to the trailer mode. I have to manually switch the steering wheel buttons back to trip/fuel each time I start the truck. Anyone know what im missing?

Does it do that every time you start it? Mine only does it once, when I start the truck after disconnecting the trailer. It's letting you know the wiring is no longer connected.

Go to the trailer setup, and select "no trailer". You should be good to go.
