Every year the colors are almost the same. Of half a dozen colors why won't manufacturers make at least 1 unusual color? If I was a manufacturer I would offer 12 +colors and charge a bit more for the less popular colors if it is a cost reason.
My guess is that most people pick "safe" colors, so the unusual ones don't sell well. Jeep will only run an unusual color for 6 months or so. There are only a few takers for the odd shades. I would like to see more solid, non metal/pearl flake options.
When I'm in the market for a vehicle, I try to imagine what a color would like in 10 years. Not all colors age well and the primary colors that Ford seems to stay with still look good in 10 years if they're kept up.

Exactly. Sometimes colors come back, like 1972's Grabber Blue did recently. But in the interim no one wants it.
I usually buy light colored vehicles because I'm a stickler for keeping them clean. Most of my trucks have been white or silver, and they are easy to keep clean. Another color Ford used to have that I liked was the pale adobe. All of these colors are easy to keep up.
Dodge had a color a few years ago called Mango Tango! It was a metallic orange.
I wish I could have talked the wife into it. I also like Ford's Blue Flame Metalic. Jag
Been my observation that certain colors are popular for a short time then years later they get popular again. My 2013 is Green Gem and adobe........but I know Green isnt popular with some people and sometimes Green will hurt at trade in time too. but Green is my favorite color.....LOL

My 2010 Focus is blue flame and it looks great still.

This is my favorite color combo that Ford ever created. Not many on the road and they just loooooook gooooood.
The one thing I wish ford would do is go outside their box a little sometimes. By that I mean more special edition trucks maybe black out editions, maybe stuff a 6.2 modded up in a 150 sport or something.

I disagree. FORD having the MOST popular vehicle. IMHO...FORD has to walk a fine line or lose customers.
Those special edition trucks come at a huge cost. OBTW: FORD does produce a special edition; it's called the Raptor.
Lithium is proving to be a tough sell. I like it but most don't. Kind of a dark battleship grey.
I saw a new 2017 Raptor today at my local dealer. The color was called Avalanche and I liked it quite a bit. The best I can describe it is mostly white with a little tan tint to it. It was sold to a buyer in California for $7k over sticker.
I had a '95 T-Bird that was called Chameleon Blue. It was one of the flip flop paints that Ford came out with in that generation. The car actually looked like it was purple but depending on how the light was hitting it, you could see blue, grey, purple and of course the metal flake.
It was beautiful when it was new. Then the clear coat started peeling and the paint was so new that Ford hadn't taught anyone in the dealer network how to apply it. My car was repainted 3 times and it never was right. It stopped flip flopping and it just became a purple car.
Lesson learned at Ford's expense. Stick with the basic colors.
