53 F250 chassis Vin number location?

I'm registering my truck in California & have to do a Vin Verification.

I've found one number in the glove box.

I've now stripped the front of the truck and cant find anything on the frame forward of the cab.

I've found a short code on the drivers frame rail.
Does anyone know what this means?

Could it be under the cab?

Would it be on the top or the side of the frame rail under the cab?

Thanks for any help.

That TBAA-A is just the code for that section of the frame. I'm no expert on the 53-56 era, but recall back when I parted out a 53 being told to look for the vin on the front cross member under the radiator support. Stu

Just found mine on my 55' F350 last week. It was on the main frame top passenger side just in front of the cab. It is stamped lightly, so hopefully your frame had not been media blasted or painted recently at any time.

If you're planning a frame swap why bother? The chassis number of the replacement will be the legal number. Stu

I will keep it on the 53 f250 pink so I don't have to bother with emissions.

You may want to look into the legality of that. California came down hard on improperly titled vehicles a few years ago.

Its not just the emissions, its the taxes.
