Stealing a 2017?
As for the BLIS, I completely agree. I have it but never use it. With the mirrors as great as they are, it is not needed.
Once inside, if your fob is dead, Ford has a "special place" where you place the fob - below the cupholder area on the center console, which can "read" the transponder without it actually transmitting when you press the engine Start button. The truck will still start.
As for leaving the fob inside, it is no easier to steal. Once the vehicle has been locked with the code pad, even with the key inside the vehicle, the engine will not start unless the correct unlock code is entered first or the second key fob is used. So even if you leave your fob in plain sight in the vehicle and someone smashes a window, the engine will still not start. Pretty cool, eh?

Other things I missed out on and am somewhat regretful about are heated steering wheel (never thought I would like or use this, and kinda feel like a wuss because I liked it, but I did use it quite a bit in my last truck). The auto high/low beams were also nice. There are other components of the Lariat Ultimate Package, but I don't miss them for example the ambient lighting.
Would really like to have the quad beam headlights as well and the BLIS, but just couldn't bring myself to pay $1080 just for lights. Also, the $570 for the BLIS was hard to justify especially since I now have bigger mirrors and can see the blind spots. The BLIS system on my F150 was essentially useless because the little dot in the upper corner of the light was essentially invisible and the mirrors were small. The light or notification should be larger. I figured with the Super Duty and the larger mirrors I didn't need it. One part of the BLIS I do miss is the cross-traffic alert. That was especially nice when backing out of a parking space and other vehicles were coming from the sides and I couldn't see them.
In the end I guess I can and must walk away knowing that the truck I would have ordered if money was no object would have stickered for just over $72K and the one I ordered and purchased stickered for just under $68K.
The Lariat Value package gives you heated / cooled front seats, power adjustable pedals, memory for the driver's seat, pedals, and outside mirrors, power telescoping and folding mirrors, LED box lighting and 3rd brake lamp, and remote engine starter.
Most dealers seem to push the Lariat Value package more than the Ultimate, perhaps because it is significantly cheaper.
Here's how I spec'd my 2017 Lariat CCSB 4x4
-diesel
-3.55 locker
-carpet delete
-chrome pkg
-FX4
-navigation
-rapid heat
-twin panel moonroof
-roof lights
-chrome PVD 20" wheels
-upfitters
-garage door opener
-tailgate step
-ultimate trailer tow camera
-heated rear seat
-lariat value pkg
In doing this instead of the Lariat Ultimate Package, I didn't get or got instead the following
-Standard interior lighting vs Ambient Lighting where you have additional lighting in the foot well, arm rests, under seats, console(s) etc. of your color choice between the main primary colors red, blue, purple, yellow, green etc.
-Traditional light and wiper controls instead of Automatic High Beam with Rain-Sensing Windshield Wipers
-Traditional key instead of Intelligent Access with Push-button Start (PEPS)
-I got manual tilt/telescoping wheel without heat instead of Power Telescoping/Tilt Steering Wheel/Column with heat, memory
-Taligate that locks and unlocks with the doors and manual release instead of Remote Tailgate Release
MSRP difference of $67,720 instead of $69,535. Should I have spent the extra ~ $2K for these other things instead? Sometimes I think so and sometimes I don't. I would like to have the auto high/low beams they were nice on the 150, but if I had never had them I probably wouldn't miss them. Same goes for heated steering wheel. The power part of the steering wheel I don't care about or miss. Remote tailgate release I always thought may result in damage to the tailgate by accidentally hitting the button when you didn't mean to and it dropping on something. Rain sensing wipers were pretty useless unless they've improved them. Too much lag time in sensing and responding to rain volume. I ended up having to control them manually anyway.

One thing that adds a small amount of value to the Lariat Ultimate pack is that the Sirius Travel Link is prepaid for 5 years, not 6 months. Some people find it useful; others don't use it.
I like the ambient lighting - not the fact that you can change colors, but just makes the truck feel a tad more upscale. A lot of European higher-end cars were doing this starting in the late 1990's to early 2000's. Not changeable colors, but just the same color as the dashboard lighting, and very subtle. The fact that the ambient lighting changes to red automatically when you open a door is cool.
The power steering column is silly, but the heated steering wheel is very, very nice. One of my favorite features overall...heats quickly and gets quite warm. Of course, RAM lets you have a heated steering wheel on a truck with cloth seats, but Ford makes you pay for it.
The auto high beams work very well. Like you say, the rain-sensing wipers still need work. It's like there is a "delay" before it figures out it needs to slow down or speed up. I often end up manually operating as well.
The remote tailgate seems like a party trick to me - I have no use for it, and I hate how slow the tailgate drops. I've also worried about accidental damage.
The push to start and proximity access is actually pretty nice. Keep the key in your pocket the whole time. But strong dislikes include the forced wait for glow plugs, even when they aren't necessary...and the double horn honk if you step out with the fob in your pocket. That can be remedied...

My ideal truck was an XLT with heated power seats, a moonroof, the LED headlights, Nav system, backup cam, diesel engine, 4x4, bed liner, tailgate step, remote start, and better audio system. The XLT fulfilled a lot of these requirements, but I was set on the lights.

F2502011....this is not so with the 2017. You can leave the truck running...get out and shut the door. Yes...the horn will honk twice. Key here is to hold the fob way out with your other hand....away from the handle. Lock your truck with the external key pad and it will lock and stay locked with the truck running. If you try and do it with the fob too close...it will keep unlocking...lol. Just takes one time to figure it out. If you can't hold the fob far enough away....just set it on the ground for a sec about 6 feet away..go back over and lock the truck. It will stay locked...and running until you walk back up.
My pet peave is being able to drive a push button start car away without the key in the vehicle once started. Yes safety blah blah I would rather the thing just not allow you to drive it until you come back.
