This one is really regretting getting behind the wheel. not only did he get into an accident, he struck an ambulance that was backing in the fire house they are stationed at. And his friend that was riding with him was killed in the accident.
One can only hope Morris. And your probably right that this isnt the first time he has driven impaired. I am waiting to see if the county is going to add involuntary manslaughter charges against him. He has already been charged with DUI. And will have to deal with a wrecked car that insurance might not fix since they have to pay out for 2 injured EMT's a damaged ambulance and one person that died. I can make a safe guess and say that his car insurance company is going to drop him like yesterday's newspaper going into a recycle bin.
That is my thought as well Morris. I have seen what happens first hand when people drink too much or take drugs and drive. I had an uncle that was in a very bad accident because of drunk driving. If him and his friend had not been drinking he would probably still be around. But they made the choice they did and ended up wrapped around a tree. my uncle died a few days later when my grandmother had to tell the docs to turn the life support off. So I know how it feels first hand. My uncles friend who was driving was paralyzed. Thats why when I drink I make sure I dont have to drive anywhere.
Was using the phone to post last night and wound up posting into the suggested forum.
Gas is 1.06 to 1.18 up here, Saskatchewan has the lowest average petrol price in the country according to the gas buddy site.
Our government is following BC's lead and is decriminalizing impaired driving which means no liscence suspensions longer than 24 hrs for impaired driving. Calgary's CPS has been claiming that impaired driving has been going down fro 17% to 19% every year for the past 3 years even though bar and liquor sales are up 6 - 8% per year. Both times my trucks were hit while parked in front of my house the drivers were impaired, the one that totaled my truck was never charged according to my insurance.
Perry I wish my area was getting more strict on it. I would not mind seeing automatic 1 year suspension of a driver's license for a first offense in addition to mandatory ignition interlock and alcohol counseling and fines. Second offense adds jail time. Sadly we are way under that here.
Up here drunk driving is the norm, in my old neighborhood we had 4 that were drunk at all times and their friends would show up and slide out of their trucks drunk. The guy next door is drunk when he gets out of his truck on thursdays and fridays, hes to drunk the rest of the weekend for his wife to let him drive.
I`ve been lucky so far, I`ve never driven while under the influence and haven`t had anyone I know have a run in with a drunk driver.
Hello Perry, likely our gas prices will go up soon too, it never stays the same for very long.
