The fordification website says that the back of cab to rear axle centerline should be 56 inches, mine measures 70 inches.

HMMM. Fish plates? Sounds to me like the PO was Pulling Your Lariat. https://storage.googleapis.com/vidsu...282ae09690.mp4

Like a lot of times on sale day a 360 magically becomes a 390.

Take a good look (and more pictures) of the areas I circled. I see a couple signs that point to a joint...

wheelbase

I agree, I would expect to see some joints in the frame where it was extended but it simply isn't there. The rails are unmolested, they have the gradual curves etc. Here are some pictures I took today.

Obviously I'm not seeing it in person, so I could be wrong. But look at that in the picture...

The frame jumps what looks like a 1/4" in width instantly. Sharp 90 degree cut. At that same point, there is a vertical seam...

That says to me, that the frame was cut, and C-channel of appropriate size was used to extend the frame.

Welds can be very well hidden if the fabricator knows what he's doing...

That is the edge of the c-channel. I've been welding for years, there would be evidence on the outside of the frame rail of any sectioning. That's all.

Ok.

Anyway, ford never made one that length, and ford didn't build the frames to begin with, they were outsourced from another company. I don't remember the name off hand.

So I find it highly unlikely that ford would ask for a special length frame without ordering enough of them to pay for the retool.

It's been modified somewhere, you're just not seeing it. You said yourself it's a one owner rig, and that the tag says 131" wheelbase. Obviously it's not 131, so where's the stretch??

Slightly to the left of your circle look at the innermost C channel. Not original!

I think the frame has been altered. What is very interesting is the union that was put in. I understand that the truck is 50 years old and I would expect brake lines would have needed replacing but the location of the union support my belief.

What does the tail light pigtail look like? Spliced? Missing? Curiosity has me wondering.

I thought I could see those too. Welds can be ground quite smooth. That section also doesn't have the usual factory holes all through it.

Well I plan to start on this one after I finish my 69 F-250. I plan on pulling the cab off of the frame and completely going through this one. I'll just have to shorten the frame back to factory dimensions.

Only because it hasn't been answered yet, my 131" truck also has a short driveshaft that goes into a carrier bearing and then the longer driveshaft.

I wonder about yours though, the longer one must be much longer..

I would be real curious to know the length of your rear driveshaft. Is yours a 4x4?

Well then you owe me because it's snowing outside and my bed isn't off so I have to crawl under, lol Just Kidding

I get 43" total length at the longest point. i.e. not center to center on the u-joints, total length past the u-joints.

Also, this is just the long driveshaft by itself. There's a yoke coming off of the splines of the carrier bearing, I didn't measure any of that but it adds close to a foot. I assume yours has the same thing so they would be the same?

Mine is a 2wd.
