Hey Jack is that the same pulley that you and randy are using on your L-N units? I'm going to assume so since you mentioned that this fits any alt that fits the 6.0
Most of these vendors have alternate diameters, the one I've used is a 58mm. I've gone back and forth stock and overdrive, but with a 230a it doesn't make much difference. Stock pulley is fine.
I was having the same trouble last March. I replaced the alt with one of those 200A units with a breaker and extra wire to the drivers side battery. 2 months ago this alternator smoked itself! I bought a 110A unit at a local supply to get me home. I left the 110A alone, it works fine. Then one evening I went to start the truck and it was as if the engine was seized. Had it towed to a shop. One new starter later, it starts like it's never started since I bought it, which is about 60K miles ago. (it has 190K on it now) The engine spins over like never before. The starter has been dragging since I bought it and I had no idea. With the 110A alt and new starter, I have had no trouble, even with frequent starts. My batteries are older ones that have been run down a few times. I ve had them checked and they are fine. The engine now cranks over as fast as a gas engine without the sparkplugs installed. I m amazed at the difference.
