Hello everybody, I've upgraded my Excursion with the 140 amp alternator, new batterys, heavy charge wires and extra grounds but it still will run down the batterys on short runs. So my plan is to try the smaller 58mm alternator pulley to give it a little extra charge on short runs. My parts guy is having trouble finding one and he asked me what year make model one of these pulleys may have come on. Does anybody know what he could look up? I give him the pulley dimensions but it didn't help him. Thanks in advance.
This is what I have recommended for this side of the border, but Canadian shipping hurts.

Depending on the shortness of the trips 140a might not cut it, but the batteries will only except so much current, less so when they are cold. Cables don't help any of that.
Nav knows that, his concern is the over time drain from not having full charging between events.
Yes that is my concern also that's why I'm looking for a overdrive pulley. Im hoping to bring my battery's up to a full charge quicker. They charge up great on anything longer than say 15-20min drive. Anyway I was hoping I could tell him that this particular pulley came on say a 94 F150 or something like that but if not I'll just order that one from eBay. Thanks for the help.

So you do actually have a problem with shorter runs and dead batteries?
I still think that is an issue, maybe I am full of it.

Never dead but say if I run my son to hockey practice a few times which is like a 5min drive a notice it doesn't crank as good. Especially when it's cold out. Let it idle for 20 or take it for a good run and it charges right up. Alternator is a new Bosch 140 and battery's are new red top optimas.

I ran into this issue as well when I had my mother in a local assisted living facility. Someday I'll publish my alternator video which was redone just for this issue as there was someone here with the same issue. With you, now 4.
It takes about 10 minutes for a 140a to get the batts close to full up. You can shorten that with a 230a or so, getting more amps into the batteries during the 90 second glow plug engagement, but the battery acceptance rate still is the restriction. It's an expensive way for only a little time improvement. AGMs accept charge at a faster rate with their lower internal resistance, but then again it's price vs benefit. Sometime the inconvence of a plug in is just more cost effective.
This is another cheap source with a wide range of pulley options.
