anybody have any idea on why my reverse only works when the trans case is in the "lock" positions??? Hubs are locked out. Not sure what's going on here.
Have you 100 % ID'ed your xfer case? Which shifter do you have? Hint NP-203 is on the left NP-205 on the right.
So your truck came with a NP-203 full time xfer case and someone put lock in/outs on the front axle, right? Did they install the part time kit correctly?
And when you put it in low lock and in D it will not go forward? And only in when put in R will it move?
Time to read up. Maybe the answer is in here? Because I have no idea, but it sounds like something is wrong in side your xfer case.
Yes I have confirmed it is the np203 AWD. The truck will move forward in any T-case position. But will only reverse when the truck is in either locked position with the hubs out
Again I do not know that much about a NP-203.....so that might be normal? maybe a NP-203 owner will chime in?
Can you verify that yes you have the proper lock in/outs and the part time kit is in the xfer case?
And tell me again why you want to drive the truck in LO or HI lock WITHOUT the hubs locked in?
as far as I know, the previous owner replaced or put the hubs in, no idea if he messed with the t-case. And I only use the lock positions to use reverse. Reverse does not engage in the other positions except hi and lo lock
When you're in R/unlocked, is your front driveline spinning? I had that happen once on a converted 203, I don't remember exactly what mechanically did it, but it was the transfer case. A 203 was a full-time chain driven case, and part of the conversion was to lock out the front driveline, sounds like yours might be coming unlocked in reverse, so you have to manually lock it.
