Hi, guys. I'm new here, but had a question for you. I recently got a 1976 F250 4x4 with a flatbed on it. I just picked up a bed from a 1976 F250 2x4. I know that the Highboy frame is 4 inches narrower and that I'm going to have to drill new holes to mount it to the frame. Are there any other special modifications I'm going to have to do do make it work? Also does the bed mount directly to the frame with carriage bolts or is there any bushings or rubber that I've got to put in there? Thanks
If you do not want to drill holes in the new bed, weld some tabs on the outside or inside (which ever matches your new bed holes) of the frame to match the current bed holes and drill the tabs.
I believe shims of some sort of material are used. Plastic, metal washers..?
Awesome, thank you guys. A couple people have told me it mounts directly to the frame, just wanted to be sure. I appreciate the info. I'll post some photos when its done.
Heres a couple photos of the truck and bed. It's a 1976 F250 4x4 with a 390FE motor that I got from the original owner who used it as a ranch truck. Has pretty low miles and runs great. Bed is from a 1976 F250 2x4.

Sometimes metal washers are used under the box to lift the box a little to line up the bodylines from cab to bed, I've only had to do that when new cab poly mounts were used.
