i am picking up a flat bed that i plan on putting on my 76. it is bolted to a 80-86 truck, is the frame width the same? reason i am asking is whether or not i have to move the mounts on the bed to bolt to the frame, thanks.
BTW this is just a flat steel bed for a long wheel base truck.
Can reacall off top of my head about the frame. It should be really easy to move frame mounts, have them welded on so the bed bolts up to OEM location for the box.
yea, the only reason i am getting the bed is because my bed is too far gone and i cannot find one, so i went to a junk/scrap yard looking and he said if i pulled it off i could take it to the scale and he would sell it to me for 20 cents per lb. which is cheap.
cool, well i got the bed today, and put it on tonight, with the help of some friends it only took about 3 hrs total and i drove it back home LEGALLY! lol. anyway the bed fit nicely with the center mounts, the only mounts that need to be made are the ones that bolt to the frame right up under the back of the cab, i guess thats where its narrower. thanks for the help.
yea, a flat bed takes care of alotta body work, for me anyway. i have big plans for this truck, im going divorced np205 t-case and i would love a D60 front end but will probably have to settle for a HD44. this was my first truck, and if i dont do something with it it will rot to the ground.
