Factory Fogs

OK Working on the asthetic details now for my truck.
E99 (Build 10/98)
Lariat, Crew cab 4x4, LB

In helping a friend replace u-joints, he gave me his factory fogs with brackets. I have always wanted a set of these but I checked and my switch doesn't "pull out" for the fog option.
Some say it wasn't available until 2000, others say they have this switch.

So Which is it...
Can I wire these up to work like factory? Is there the chance the wiring is there and just need to plug n replace the switch...add a relay, fuse under hood?

Thanks all!

I've heard no they won't work without a new harness. I think mine pulls out but is not wired for one. Any buddy else know? Oh mine is E99 CC 4x4 LB lariat. It would be nice to see under the dash of a late model and see if the plugs are the same on the switch. Then go from there.

I cannot answer your question. Sorry. However, here is the info on this e99. 09/98 build Lariat. The switch does not pull out and it did not come with factory lamps.

The last '03 7.3L Excursion that I had did have factory lamps and the switch did pull out. I think it was an XLT.

Could you not buy a replacement switch that does pull out and add the extra wire that will be needed?

Either that or wire up a regular toggle switch, this could also be then tied into the circuit for the headlights so the fogs don't stay on all the time as they do with the factory wiring, but only come on when the headlights do?

I thought about that. But would have to break out the creative cap again.
I like the factory looks of buttons and switches. I used the defrost switch from a 97 Explorer when I installed the wiring for my mirror heat when I replaced the mirrors.
I will keep digging. Bound to find something.

This goes back to my first point, why not buy a replacement headlight switch that already has the fog function built in? Then it would just be a case of running wire. I don't know for sure, but wouldn't the fogs use the same circuit that supplies the headlight switch? To me it would just be an additional set of contacts internal to said switch...

There is a write-up "how to" in the Excursion forum tech folder sticky thread where White Buffalo added factory fogs to his 2000 Excursion, which didn't have fogs.

When I added the figs to my early 99 I just tapped power from the running lights. That way they are on when the running lights are and also stay on when the brights come one.
