I have a 2000 V10 Excursion w/o factory fog lights. My headlamp switch just broke and i was wondering if it was possible to get a fog light switch and the fog light assembly and install it. Would I have to get a new harness?
I know this sounds weird, but I cannot find any mention of a factory fog lamp option for a 2000 Excursion in the factory manuals. No associated wiring, and no procedures for replacing any fog lamp assemblies.
I was going to tell you to pull the headlight switch, and look for certain color wire that fed the foglamp circuit in the plug. If it was there, you might be able to pull it off, but I cannot find any foglamp wiring in the diagrams.
The 2000 superduty diagrams don't show a foglamp option either. The 2001 Excursion diagram does show foglamps. It shows a different switch with a yellow wire in the harness to the switch. This yellow wire goes out to a foglamp relay located in the fuse box in the engine compartment. There are two fuses that feed these circuits, and both are located in the fuse box under the hood. A #15, 5 amp and a #12, 15 amp.
Go up to the forum for the 2000 Superduty or Excursion, and tell them there is this crazy guy down in the elec forum telling you in 2000 they did not have a foglamp option. It's either a problem in the factory diagrams, or they really did not have a foglamp option?
Again, forgive me if I sound stupid, but would I be able to outfit my truck with a complete 2001 fog lamp kit? Also, I was planning on getting the front end conversion down the road. Would the 2001 fog lamps fit on a 2005, or should I get a 2005 kit when I get the conversion?
You are going to have to scope out the fuse positions I listed and see if there is a socket area for the foglamp relay in the fuse box under the hood. If they didn't have fogs in 2000, I would think it's not too promising to be plug and play.
