How is everyone's winter going?

North Dakota has pretty much completely shut down with these 50mph wind gust and -20 windchill, not to mention another 6 inches of snow. The plows aren't even going anywhere yet. So how is everyone's winter going so far?

and to keep it "ford trucks" related, here's a picture of what the front of my house looks like (keep in mind the driveway was plowed yesterday morning

I'm coming to live where you are, it sucks even more cause our poor snowmobile doesn't work, that was the only reason I was okay with snow!

Well I didn't want to say anything, but since Hio "broke the ice" , here is Glendale (outside of Phoenix) Arizona real time weather.

Highs in the mid 60s and lows in the mid 40s here in SC.

Around here folks panic at the slightest flurry.

However on the plus side of things, my father happens to know a lot of people and one of them owns a front loader and lives nearby, how lucky we are?

Okay, based on my climate/weather report, winter is going okay but as my family's property manager I've been mired in a house remodel in San Francisco every weekend - one or both days since last March.

I did have some play time over Thanksgiving and headed to the salvage yard for some therapy... I did that because turkey day dinner was at my cousin's house nearby and I just couldn't pass up 50 percent off anything and everything at the yard. Here was the result of day: Salvage Yard Therapy

I'm about 35 miles outside SF. The SF house was built in 1926 and still retains much of its details and "bones" from that era. Among other things I had the kitchen and bathroom rebuilt/remodeled from the studs up; a 200-amp panel and new wiring; asbestos abatement and a new Carrier furnace and ducts; removed all the wallpaper from plaster walls; de-constructed, demo'ed, insulated, re-drywalled, textured, and reinstalled the original trim; ripped out all the carpet, padding, and about a kazillion staples; painted almost every square inch; restored the glass *****, hinges, and brass escutcheons. I've got one one more bathroom to remodel, some electrical work, build a fence, and finally - cleaning up the back yard which I have attempted to keep at bay with RoundUp. The tally thus far is over $100K... that may sound like alot of moolah but it is still less than 10 percent of the property value. SF real estate is nuts.

Usually one day of the weekend is spent on my domestic duties and personal business. Somewhat of a "bright side' of having no social/wrenching life is that I don't spend much "fun" money... the last actual wrenching I had to do was replace one of the fuel pumps in the 01 Spider.

After I escape from the claws of the SF house, wrench time on the board includes...:

73 4x4 - https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...de-thread.html
Swapping its NP435/Dana 21 combo for a NP435/NP205. Have the parts..
Swapping the Ford Thompson PS pump & brackets for a Saginaw canned ham pump using CVF brackets and pulleys. Have the parts...

71 F250 - https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...n-71-f250.html
Replace its 360FE with the low-mileage FE from the '70
Swap out the front drums for discs... have the parts!
.. and swap its T-18 for a 4R70W.

70 F100 - https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...build-104.html
Deleting the in-cab tank for a rear mounted Intl Scout tank. Have the parts
Converting the dead-head, PWM E-Street EFI to a return-style fuel system. Have the parts.
Change the rear gear from 3.50 to a 3.90
Build a new 390, 410, or 434FE stroker for it. Have the headers, intake, cam kit, and other miscellaneous parts.

65 Mustang -
Convert to a T-5Z
Swap out its tired 289 for a FRPP 302 crate engine
Minor rust repair, bodywork, and a paint job.

68 Mustang -
... thinkng about this - it doesn't need anything. Whoa!

Winter time sucks... it's cold in the morning and dark by the time I get off of work. I'll be glad when we get passed the winter solstice (December 21, 2016)... that means we start to get daylight back... about one minute per day.

I hope you all are having more fun than me....

It's just started getting cold here (about 6 miles east of Everett, WA) in Lake Stevens. It snowed a few flakes yesterday. But it melted in a few minutes. Last night it was in the upper 20"s. Today in the 30's. No change expected for the next 5 days. No priming or painting getting done (on the inner fenders & rad support) for a while. As HIO said, Come on with that solstice!!

Second snow of the year for me in Central Mass. Temps been right around 30deg F. Plowed my driveway for the first time Monday, Just to discover the hubs on my 2005 f150 are not engaging. Razzle fracking. Second time they need replacing. I'm coping with Bursitis in both elbows right now trying to figure out how I'm gonna pull my front end apart to replace the them. Oh well at least I have a garage to get my truck in. I may have to have my daughters boy friend help me. The problem with young know-it-alls is the amount of time it take to fix everything they know how to fix

Hey Brian. As you obviously know those lock out hubs are vacuum actuated. You might check the vacuum system 1st before tearing in to the hubs. Like the 9H465 solenoid, 19a566 reservoir, 19a563 vacuum check valve, or 3A785 vacuum lines in the pic below. Around here it is the 3C247 actuators usually. But you are in the Cold climate. Let me know if you need some help with whatever part(s).
