Josh, I'd like to help but I'm down east almost every weekend working on that old cabin. I have to get shingles up this weekend where the chimney was. Right now it's just dried in with tar paper. It's been quite a project. I'll toss up some photos of the progress when I get time. It's really coming along.
I hope to be able to host a chapter weekend when it warms up. We can go 4 wheeling, boating, fishing, shooting, pretty much whatever. Got a charcoal grill to cook out. When it warms up we'll find a date that works.
Hey guys... my dad is currently in the ICU of the Trauma center for the hospital.. so please do whatever it is yall do when wishing someone well.. I just rushed 5 1/2 hrs to SC to visit him in the hospital. Earlier today he ended up in an accident that required him to be air lifted. While he is still alive and talking.. the nurses mentioned he may need some for the internals. He has a bruised liver, cracked rib, collapsed lung, some internal bleeding but theyre not sure how bad at the current time, broken clavicle and lacerations on the front and back of his head theyre saying he will also need surgery for. While his lower half seems fine his upper body is all sorts of colors purple. but has all sorts of tubes and things going in and out of him...
so please say or do whatever it is yall do when wishing one well...
as to the accident all we know at this time was that at one point he was into a guard rail which then resulted in him being under the rear of a tractor trailer that drug his car over 60ft...
I hear you on that. I spent 15 minutes out in the shop this evening and called it quits. Didn't even give the heat time to attempt to warm that place up. I've also put the kerosene heater up for the year, and didn't feel like digging it back out.
So who's free Saturday? I'm getting tired of looking for a fender and hood and door for the truck, where every one wants 200 for each! Found a parts truck, heard back from the guy, hoping I can pick it up this weekend if everything goes to plan. Then take what I need, strip the rest and scrap it.
I'm hopefully headed to Wilmington to pickup a old 4cly 5speed ranger Saturday morning. Then I got a public hanging... errr wedding to attend Saturday afternoon.
I went today for my second round spinal tap(first one last Wednesday)today. I'm restricted to inside until Monday. Then it's a few days of just walking to get my strength back. After this I'm supposed to be good until at least September. I'm sure excited about getting out and participating with you folks more. The procedure today was a little more uncomfortable than usual but well worth it in the end.

In addition to the before mentioned things he also has a fractured nose.. Doctors said hes stabilizing to the point theyre feeling comfortable enough to move him to surgery tomorrow to fix his cuts and nose... the others theyre just going to let heal on their own.. his lungs re-inflated but still has some minor internal bleeding theyre not concerned enough with for operating on to correct. those they will also let heal on his own. he was opening his eyes more today also. already getting back to his old self in some ways.. when we got there this morning he was complaining about the nurses bugging him every few mins taking blood and and running tests.. in doing so they kept him up all night.. when he would start to feel comfortable theyd come in and move him to keep him limber but putting him in pain (claimed they were torturing him on purpose).. and also complaining the beds too hard.. pretty much how he was before the accident in that regards lol..
still doesnt remember anything of the accident. last thing he remembers was leaving the rest area at the welcome center... report said 8/10 mile but we found the actual spot where he hit the guardrail and was more like 2 miles down the road... caved the rail in a good 2 ft... police said the driver of the tractor trailer he went under after she got stopped got out to check on him and held his hand till paramedics got there. he was life flighted to the hospital...
we were finally able to find the car today at the yard near where the accident was.. everyone there was sure dad didnt survive after seeing the car... we had to tell them 3 different times he was still alive and at the hospital because they didnt want to believe us. pretty much the only part left of the car is from the back of the seat back.. everything else is just a pile of junk parts..
took some pics of the car and him.. but not gonna post the ones of him because of how bad he looks.. but heres what the car looked like..

My day sucked, as usual, but it was better than yours.
Take it easy and get feeling better.

Thanks bud, the hard part is going to do the waiting thing, but I remember the last time that I didn't do exactly as she said.
Sparky, Your dad is very fortunate. Remember to take care of yourself also so you'll be able to take care of him. Wishing him and your family the best.
argument of the day was whos house was he going to go to when he got released... which imo was a premature discussion.. but i do agree with my brother that he should be going to my brothers house.. Mainly because at his house theres always somewhere there.. in the morning my SIL is home while my brothers at work. then when he comes home my SIL goes to work.. at my house me and mom both work at the same office and both are gone in the morning so theres no one to keep an eye on him.. hes not going to be ok for awhile after he is release.. but my brother and mom decided to pick a fight over it..
Wow Sparky, so glad your dad lived and is recovering, after seeing those car pics for sure you would not think anyone would have made it. Will keep your family in my prayers.
