I've got a boat with two top-oiler 427s in it. I'm considering selling the engines, but am curious about their value. One has been rebuilt, the other has not. They both run well. Any ideas out there?

Seriously They should be worth around 750-1500 depending on condition and rotation of crank.Some had reverse rotation,not a good thing in a Hot Rod
Also to note would be if they had the CJ style, low riser heads or std heads they came both ways.
There's a pair of them on ebay right now for around $4000 - though one is a top oiler and one is a side oiler. I was wondering if one of them was reverse rotation....
Stupid question...If it was a reverse rotation, couldn't it be stripped down to the block and rebuilt as a correct rotation engine?
The dizzy needs to be changed too. Only problem is the reverse crank has the oil slots on the rear main cut to sling the oil back inside the engine. Spin the crank the other way around and the slots sling the oil out through the seal and onto the ground. Can't grind out the slots 'cause then the od becomes too small for the seal to work right. Someone else here had that problem.
So would a "correct" crank work? I guess my question should have read : Can you use a "reverse rotation" block to build a correct rotation engine, using correct rotation parts.
Well, I guess you could change the distributor drive gear, it's backwards too. The marine engines I've seen used a Mallory single or dual point unit with the flat 'crab' cap.
