Ford most definitely made a 427. It's one of the most sought after Ford motors. It's a big bore, medium stroke motor from the FE series (360,390,427 and 428 plus others). It can be a real powerhouse.
you'll see these on eBay all the time fetching very high prices. The Shelby Cobra car guys really like to use the 427 in those projects to be more original.

Yep. It was ford hottest factory engine. It came in various flavors:
Low riser
Medium riser
High riser
Tunnel Port
SOHC (single overhead cam)
Single 4 or dual quad.
Very sought after motor. Hard to find, and expensive.
Ford and Chevy both made 427's. Mopar did not, to my knowlege. If your buddy doubts you just let him look at mine.

Pretty good timing, I'd say. And we didn't contradict each other, that's always a plus!
It's hot down here. I need to be working on mine, but it's just too hot. I guess you don't have that problem in Wyoming :-)

Nope. I'm right in the middle of the three months each year that I don't have to wear a parka to work on it! Plum nice outside. We like to say that we have 9 months of winter and three months of darn late in the fall.
