Ford most definitely made a 427. It's one of the most sought after Ford motors. It's a big bore, medium stroke motor from the FE series (360,390,427 and 428 plus others). It can be a real powerhouse.
you'll see these on eBay all the time fetching very high prices. The Shelby Cobra car guys really like to use the 427 in those projects to be more original.
