Remote start 15 min shutdown timer... how to bypass?

2015 Superduty King Ranch, deleted with PPEI EZ Lynk tuner.

When remote starting my truck only stays running for 15 minutes before it automatically shuts down. Has anyone figured out a way to bypass this so the truck will stay running for longer periods of time?

Getting pretty cold here in Fairbanks and a 15 minute remote start (with high idle) doesn't get the cab very warm. For whatever reason the Fairbanks, Alaska dealership did not order the supplemental cab heater on my pickup.

I've contacted PPEI but have been unable to receive a response from them.

you can extend it once by using the remote. After that, I believe you need a key turn.

I extended all the time repeatedly via remote start. It's just a pain in the pass having to go back out every 15 minutes.

Ig you do not use the block heater, it might help you to plug it in. also...use a grill cover that can block off the radiator like the GoFia....

From my Anchorage experience last winter, it helps if you plug it in... Even remote started twice, at a certain point it doesn't get warm until you put a load on the motor. And I have the rapid supplemental heater. Last year in -20F it would high idle, then I'd hear the motor idle back down and then idle up again... Cab was still pretty cold. As soon as we got in and I started driving it warmed up pretty quick. If I plugged in, as soon as I started it I got warmer air then when I did not. I assume 90Pioneer that wherever you are in Fairbanks you can plug in? Last time I went up to Fairbanks from Anchorage even the B&B we stayed at had a place for each parking spot to plug in.

My next trick is to NOT use the defrost button on the HVAC as it brings in outside air - which of course means your heater core has to heat the cold outside air. Instead I hit auto, recycle, and the button in the center to direct the air to my feet and defrost vents. Turn the heat up to "HI" and sometimes I have to turn the fan motor manually up.

My fix this year was getting a place with a heated garage I can park the truck in.

Great tip on not using the defrost button, I will try that!

I have the BD diesel high idle mod for the truck and will usually set it to 1500rpms, or there abouts.

Yes I can usually plug in but if I'm going somewhere for an hour or two or plugging in isn't very convenient, I'd prefer to just leave the thing running. With all the crime and stolen vehicles lately I don't want to leave the keys in it anymore. Last year I would leave it running with my spare key, then lock the doors with my main key.

NO supplemental cab heater ??? i would make them install one that's ridicules. Even with the truck plugged in upstate NY the truck takes 20 minutes of driving to make even a little heat, the electric heater takes off the edge works great some people say it's not enough try waiting for the engine heat lol i will take it. take care

There is a posting on a guy who did his own supplemental heater install. It is a huge undertaking but he got it done.

No, there is no way to extend the factory remote start run time.

There is sort of a way to get around it and double the run time to a max of 30 minutes. If you get the Ford Remote Access cell phone kit, you can hit the remote start button twice on your phone and it will automatically extend the 15 minutes to 30 minutes. If you're in an area that gets good cell phone service, this might be your best option.

Here's the part numbers you'll need:
DL3Z19A361A
DL3Z19A390B

In a nutshell, this kit is the Ford version of the cell phone remote start. You add the security base module, and then the remote access RMU unit plugs into the base module. Activate it and you have all your key functions on your cell phone. When you remote start, it will show a 15 minute timer. Once it's running, hit remote start a second time on the phone and it extends to 30 minutes.

Just an idea. I know it's a bit pricy and you have to pay a $49 yearly subscription for the service, but if that's what you're trying to achieve then it might be worth it.

I an wondering if he has an As-Built file from a truck with aux heat, if he could get it to work by subbing the value into his data.

It's possible to have OK cell service in Alaska. I had trouble with OnStar at times.

90Pioneer - I wouldn't plug in for 2 hours either, so I understand. Auto theft is HUGE here in Anchorage and you are not allowed to leave a vehicle running with a key in.

Since we are talking things that cost money to get around this issue - There is an aftermarket solution that would work for you. I had it on my Excursion - you could do unlimited remote starts and even hit the remote start button with the key in, remove the key, and it would stay running. Used to do this in Miami during the summer heat when going to pick up my then babies from day care. I had a generic version of a Viper type alarm. BUt of course check with an auto installation place to see if that trick still works. You may need to sacrifice a PATS key. I used a cheap spare key - just the head once it was programmed I cut off the "key" part...
