Remote start acting up

2008 F-150.

My remote start hasn't been working and I've not been able to figure out why. I would really appreciate some help on this one. Heres what I've got.

Factory remote start w/ separate 1 button fob, one of the ones that installed at the dealer, but didn't come in the truck.

Hit the button, ignition turns on, doors lock and it beeps once.

relays start clicking and its doing its thing, then it beeps again and just sits there ignition on. No start.

A few things ive tried.

Opened the hood, that gave me 2 beeps. closed it gives me 1 beep
Doors i think are 3 beeps
foot on brake is 2 beeps
key in is 5 beeps.

i tried holding my key up next to the ignition like maybe the chip part wasn't working, but that did nothing different.

I found a black button under the dash and a red light. Im wondering if there is some way to reset this. (i read someplace where a ford factory remote start installer did something with this and it got one guy's working)

Everything seems to be in functioning order, but it feels like maybe somethings isn't programmed right or something is telling the truck not to start. I don't know what all parameters these look at to start chasing issues.

Also noticed the little red light on the dash goes bananas when it do this. Flashing super duper fast.

One horn chirp indicates a problem with the Securilock PATS interface not functioning properly or not programmed correctly. Did you get new keys recently or had anything else done to the truck that involved PATS?

You can try to reprogram to see if you can get it to work again. Here's how:

- Have 2 programmed and functioning keys with you
- Close and unlock all doors, keep your foot OFF the brake pedal
- Insert the first key and turn to the run position (do not start the truck)
- Count 3 long Mississippi's and remove the key
- Within 5 seconds insert the 2nd key and turn to the run position
- Again count 3 long Mississippi's and remove the 2nd key
- Press and hold the remote start button for 3 seconds

The truck should remote start at that point. If not, then most likely either the wire to the antenna ring is unplugged or damaged.... or the module went out.

Let us know if this works or not.

Dude you NAILED it!

Can't thank you enough.
PM me your mailing address please.

I bought this truck on a whim one year. I was working 2 states away and my Power Stroke went T.U. the day before I was due back to work. Went down to the local dealer and they gave me a decent deal on this truck. I don't know the history but I do know the remote start hasn't worked, and has always done that junk since Ive owned it. Over 2 years now. I do really like this truck, but I wasn't willing to get ripped off over a remote start repair. So thanks again!

It's out in my driveway right now idling. With no key in it.

Glad it works. No need to send me anything. That's what these forums are for. Enjoy the truck.
