have a 64 f100 going to put the bed back on the frame what kind of rubber or gaskets go under the bolts? mine didn't have any.. was thinking of using
1/8 thick conveyor material ??
thanks mike
I assume yours is a styleside? If so just get an old inner tube and cut some to fit where the box contacts the frame. That is what Ford says to use as a replacement part. No wood blocks on a styleside. Maybe the stepside used wood blocks?
Oddly all of my stylesides , both right and wrong bed, still have the old wooden blocks between the bed and frame that Ford originally used on them. I haven't seen any original long bed trucks without the wooden blocks myself.
Sounds like it might be short beds that didn't have the wood from reading this.
Must be a short box long box deal. My short box has plates welded on the bottom of the channel that would sit on the frame. In between the plate and the top of the channel is a what I would call a pipe that the bolt goes through. Much like how the cabs are for the cab mounts. Pipe is there to keep from overtightening and pulling the bolts through the box. I do know of a 44 thousand mile original 64 long bed style side. Next summer when I see it I will look underneath of it as now I am curious. It is the one on the right side of my avatar
My several '65-'66 lwb trucks had oak blocks. No rubber. My "out front of my house right now" swb '66 has no wood blocks and no rubber. Not trying to prove anything...

I doubt you'd be able to see the rubber. When I took mine apart the rubber was paper thin from 45 years of being smashed. I am sure it was used for anti squeak purpose only. Just a thought
