Ported Carburetor Spacer's.

Would like to replace the 2 1/2" aluminum ported 4bbl spacer down to an inch or so. Finding it difficult locating 'ported' aluminum spacers, however, there are several brands of the 'composite' type? Before purchasing, thought I would check whether anyone is familiar with the composite and can offer advice, or an opinion?

Thank you!

The 390 has the 'cast anchor' ported intake manifold and aligns with the ports in the spacer. I come with the understanding the ported spacers is better suited for 'street' use whereas the open spacer is for 'high performance' application? Seem to recall it has to do with the fuel/air automization and how it's distributed? The prior owner had the engine set up for 'high performance' and I have been swapping components in an effort to tone it down to improve MPG?

In my case, the 390 has a Holley 1850 (4160) 4bbl carburetor and primarily operates off the primary jets, or front ports; it is not until a certain RPM band is reached that the secondary, or rear ports come into play. Figure the ported spacer would be best for my application??

Not sure I answered your question but thanks for asking! Perhaps member's more knowledgeable on topic will chime in??
