I have read here and elsewhere that a two inch carb spacer helps to increase throttle response. My question is, would you use an open spacer or a 4 hole spacer, should it be aluminum or phenolic? And why?
I have a Holley street dominator intake and will be bolting a 600 holley with vacuum secondaries to it.
Thanks for your time.
Mike
I havea 1" spacer on my 351C/street torker/750 vac sec holley... it is actually a squarebore-to-speadbore adaptor, with a single strip of metal in the middle, making 2 passages for the air/fuel mix (with a primary and a secondary using each passage). It seems to work well, as my motor has excellent throttle response even with the torker and 750 holley.
Thanks for the info. I live in Texas, so I have more heat to deal with than cold and primiarily wanted the low end grunt, so it looks like a 4 hole phenolic will be my best bet.
Thanks again,
Mike
These spacers, are you using the EGR plate also or have you removed it. I have a 3" air cleaner on a holly on the EGR plate and I have no more room before the air cleaner hits the bottom of the cowling lip. Would a shorter element be alright?
The intake is a non-egr so I won't have to worry about that, I may have to get one of the off set air cleaner assemblies, but I 'll wait to see when I put the spacer in.
