Starter out I think

I want to get it started so I don't have to tow it to the mechanic isn't there a way you can use a screwdriver and it on the starter

If your starter is out nothing will work short of replacing it. If it's a starter relay you may be able to jump across it. I am not sure what years apply but the early trucks have a starter relay on the passenger's side fender that you can jump across and the later ones do not. If you are considering going right to the starter and jumping the connections I can't help you on that but I can tell you that you are talking about a lot of amps and you won't want to touch the frame, the body, the wrong place on that starter or the engine with the hot end of that wire.

Starter change is relatively easy to do in your drive with a simple set of tools. Pretty straight forward. Where are you located? There could be someone on the forum that's relatively close to you that could lend a hand.

If not, just ask around local shops and see if there is a willing person to do it on site.

Not worth the tow.

The batteries on these trucks can supply a lot of power--dangerous power. If you don't know exactly what to do I suggest don't mess with jumping that starter. You can melt stuff and the temperatures from an electrical arc are in the thousands of degrees!
