1997 F150 starter proplem
I think the culprit was the (small) positive red wire shorted against the exhaust collective.
Now truck will not start.
1. Is there a fuse or relay that I can re-set?
2. Is the starter change on this as easy as a Chevrolet 350?
3. I would hate to change the starter and discover that was not the problem ie: relay, or breaker.
thanks for any help.

Why would that make the starter keep spinning? That would actually shorten out the cirquit before it can get to the starter? I am not sure about the wiring of the starter, but it doesn't make sense to me. Sure, if there is a burnt up wire, make sure to fix it.

Does it crank at all? Does the starter make any noise, click etc? Or is it just plain dead silence?

I don't know. The starter relay is either on the starter itself or on the firewall.

I have seen the starter on my truck and it looks easy to change.

Well, what I am curious about is what happened when your starter was still cranking and the truck fired up? Don't you get the starter gear grind against the flywheel in a horrible noisy scenario? That by itself should have messed up the starter mechanically and even yoru flywheel might have taken some damage. I would dfinitely check the starter gear out and take it from there. If it is chewed up, you will need a new starter anyway.
Good Luck,
