I found it to be a very simple install, bolt it in and plug the harness together and provide power to the switch..

May I ask a stupid question? To a person who has the stock complete electrical wiper equipment, what are the advantages of this, does it give you more room under dash, 56 year only, just curious as I have a 55 panel and have everything to use stock?

Really the only advantage was removing the motor off the firewall which was the main reason I did it on my panel because of the Chevy motors distributor interference. It is an easy install and some have wondered if it is noisy but it's no noisier than any new vehicle. Newport makes them for your year truck as well.. it does obviously take up a bit of room under the dash but does not interfere with anything..

Thanx John

I had forgot that the 56 wiper motor is on the engine side of the firewall.
53-55 has them on the inside, probably similar to what you are installing on the 56.

Ok that's even more info , mine is a 53 so I guess its on the inside anyway but will be 6 volt and still need to be changed . The joys of purchasing a project that had the cab stripped I'm sure I saw it in a box somewhere LOL .

Now I didn't know that about the 53-55's Gerry, I had a 53 and scrapped it and didn't pay that much attention to the differences..

I have used Raingear wipers (1956 Ford F-100 Trucks | RainGear Wiper Systems) on both slant cabs and my 56 F100. They are not cheap but unlike other "wiper motor replacements", this is a complete wiper system. Precision heim joints, lightweight tubular construction, 2-speed and intermittent control switch, and the capability to mount the motor on either side of the wiper system to accommodate other underdash equipment placement. Not cheap but well worth the $$$. BTW...this system is completely compatible with OEM underdash systems, including cowl vent and heater/ducting.
