I haven't got to that point yet, I did get it out and what a pain that turned out to be. I did try to get it to run with a jumper wire to eliminate the switch but no luck.
Thanks, I went to article you suggested and it gave me all info I needed for using a newer motor. My problem is that my truck is still 6v. If I leave it 6v can I get the original motor rebuilt? I see new 6v motors for around $270.00, I just figured if its possible I would save a few bucks by rebuilding the old one. Maybe I should change the truck over to 12v, what's the big advantage to that?

You just found one of the biggest reasons to convert to 12V, IMO. Cost and availability of 12V stuff is enough reason to convert unless you have a very original truck. $270.00 for a motor that can be had in 12V for much less? JMHO, others will vary. LIke BigWin said, give it a rap. Try pulling it apart, clean and oil.
