Dash doesnt light up when headlights are on

Dash doesnt light up when headlights are on

Last thing i need to do before inspection. Dash doesn't light up when the headlights are on. I've had pretty bad experiences with electronic so I don't want to do anything before I know exactly what I'm going to do. What should I check first?

Make sure the headlight **** is not turned to the dash light off position. It's a variable potentiometer to control the brightness of the dash lights. There is also an Off position.

There is separate 5 amp fuse for the dash lights. It will help if you tell us what kind of truck you have.

I think the tail lights and the dash lights are on the same fuse on purpose.

X2. The dimmer can burn up. Mine burnt from an idiot wiring the aftermarket cab lights to the instrument cluster wire, but I have heard of them burning up from normal use.
