Got an 08 F250. Dash lights/radio light and message center light works great when light are off but go really dim when you turn the light switch on. Any ideas??
there should be a control near the headlight switch that will vary the cluster and interior light illumination levels. You might need to read your owner's manual.
There is a light sensor that dims the dash lights when the headlights come on so you can see better over the dash at night.
With the headlights on, you can (somewhat) vary the dash light intensity with the interior dimmer. In the daytime with bright sunlight, the dash should stay at full illumination even with the headlights on.

Ive tried 4 dimmer switches and checked the fuses numerous times and swapped fuses to make sure. When headlights are on or in auto setting my instrument panel lighting is so dim you can barely see it. At night they are very low and will not increase with dimmer switch. I don’t know why my dimmer switch won’t brighten the instrument panel lighting. You think maybe that sensor will effect the dimming of the of the dimmer switch??
It’s not uncommon for these trucks to get water into the SJB (BCM/GEM/interior fuse box) and cause weird issues, I would pull the plugs on the SJB and look for any corrosion. The sensor for auto lights only tells the SJB when to turn on the head lights, it has nothing to do with the dash dimming.
This larger plug has the wiring for the dimmer switch in it, see if any of the plugs has green/blue/white corrosion in them.
