No, none at all...just use windex to clean before application.
I wait until the cab is cool, I don't apply when it's hot, and be sure the screen is dried before applying the protector.
The old MFT always displayed track / station names in the corners, and the Sync system only displays climate info and outside temp / compass info. Big downgrade in my opinion.
Semi related question: Do these units have radio data on them? Satellite radio has the station/song/artist displayed. I put it on an FM station for the first time today and all I got was the station's number onscreen. There didn't appear to be an option for RBDS or station info in the settings.
Prompt volume can be changed when the voice prompt is speaking. Just turn up the radio volume.
If you use Android Auto, and use both navigation and music from your phone, the sound volume is the same for both. You can change the volume on one, but the other will automatically match up in a few seconds. My solution was to copy my playlist to a USB stick, and that works. Radio works too.
Voice commands are much more complicated with Sync 3. You cannot just say "Navigate to the next McDonalds". Or Navigate to Super 8 in whatever town you want. If you need to find an exact address, it is OK. Not a business, and even worse if it is out of state.
It has some good features, but Google maps, connected through Android Auto, beats it hands down, as long as you have network access....
Save yourself the money and don't get the Sync 3 Navigation. On my new truck, I wanted the larger screen with my XLT but I did not want to get navigation. I use Android Auto and Google Maps when I need navigation and it works great.
I've always been a gadget person and especially if it's an OEM navigation system. Having said that. I've found over a few years that a quality Garmin navigation work far better and is handy to be able to transfer from vehicle to vehicle. I still have a Garmin Nuvi 5000 that is backup camera compatible and it works great an isn't near as confusing to use as my OEM navigation in my 2017 SD Platinum.
Comment and question. The MKC screen fingerprints terribly so there is a container of Armor All or Windex glass wipes on hand at all times in the console.
Does the Waze app on Android work through the radio speaker? I cannot get it to work on my Kenwood BT in the '01 or the MyTouch in the MKC without setting the units to BlueTooth input or being on a phone call. It will not interrupt the radio or Sirius on either system. And it seems like any additional app to make it work screws up something else. I am hoping the Android Auto feature will correct these annoyances.
In case it hasn't been answered, yes waze on AA plays through the car spearker, waze would play through BT on the earlier sync, but youd have to set sync to media and the phone, and you;d get nothing else but waze. I like this version of the sync nav better. the major drawback, is the cost of updates, over $200 for and update is too much waze/google maps are kept up to date for free.
