Last year I replaced all the injectors, glow plugs and UVC wiring harnesses in my 2000 F250 SD (7.3l) and the truck ran great up to about 2,500 miles or so. The SES light came on and after a quick OBD II check indicated a P1316 code. The truck still runs great (it's getting the best MPG since I have had it), but that code persists. It was intermittent for awhile, so I re-checked all ,connectors (not under the valve covers, though) and it seemed fine. Then it came on and stayed on. I have read about using a multi meter to Ohm the wires, but I am unsure how to do that (I know one test probe goes into the connector, but where does the ground probe go? Onto the block or ground? Or, does it go somewhere else?). Any suggestions are appreciated.
Hi. You are actually in the wrong forum. This one is for the older 7.3 in the OBS trucks.
Your UVCH plug should have 9 wires on it so use the following guide,
G-G-I-I-C-I-I-G-G
with the G pins being glow plugs, the I pins being Injectors and the C being common for the injectors.
To check the injector, put your meter on OHM and put one lead on the first I and the second lead on the C and measure the resistance in the injector. Write it down and move the I lead to the next one and leave the C in place.
I don't know what the resistance value is for your year of truck, but someone will be along shortly with the correct numbers.
