Water in the fuel light

My 97 f350 7.3l water in the fuel light started coming on after I filled up on Monday and I went to go drain the bowl and nothing happened so I'm guessing it's clogged any idea on what I should do?

Try draining it a bit with the engine running as the canister will be under pressure.

I did the same thing then realized that mechanical fuel pumps wont work unless engine is running.

fuel pressure drops off in a second when engine is off

Um, the drain is on the bottom; no pressure required. But with the filter cap on, nothing will drain, just like holding your thumb on the top of a soda straw. Loosen the cap and the drain will start to run.

^^^^ Yeah, maybe, once. Once the fuel bowl refills, you're good. No different from a filter replacement.

When I had the OEM fuel system I always opened the valve with engine running. If the drain port has debris prevention flow pressure from the pump usually is enough to push it out. Never had an issue doing this but closed the valve after 5 seconds or so.
