Back with new EX!

I missed my old 2002 Ex that i sold due to it having some cosmetic only body damage. I just found its replacement Friday. 2004 Ex Limited 6.0 with 342,000 miles on it. One owner with all maintenance records since new and EGR delete with Edge CTS tuner with 3 tunes (Economy/Towing/Extreme). It was the wife's car and always garage kept so in very nice condition and not burned up from the Texas heat. Quad captains chairs which I like as well. I paid $9k for it and thought it was a bargain at that price. It got a reman turbo/HPFP/Injectors/brakes and rotors all the way around within the last 40k miles. Here are some pics.

I think I just scored some 2006 SD chrome tow mirrors as well for it.

Looking good! (h/t to FP) D'oh! I didn't even notice the paddle mirrors!

It's nice to see one without the 2 inch front level kit. I had yet to see one. Mine has the 2 inch level but I'm leaving it on..doesn't really matter to me one way or t'other.

It's a wonderful feeling to be back behind the wheel of a beast like the Ex.

You can say that again! This is my every day commuter car, 2003 VW Beetle TDI diesel 5 speed manual.

Huge difference changing back and forth.

and then throw in my third fun mobile:

The Ex will also serve as tow vehicle for 1935 Ford.

It sure looks good but there are some marks that won't come out easy, but they are small. Some small tears on the arm rest of the right rear seat. Easily fixed though. It is in beautiful condition. I am surprised it was up for sale as long as it was, more than a month or better. I guess the 342k miles scared everyone but me away. It is amazing what condition things can be in when properly cared for. There are other ones with less miles and worse condition for sale for $14k to $16k.

Admittedly, 342k and 2wd isn't exactly a hot seller for these things, especially on an non-bulletproofed 6.0.

That motor never really recovered from its initial bad rap in the earlier years, and the resale prices reflect that still to this day.

Went through all the maintenance records and put them in date order. Read through all the stuff that has been done to the vehicle. 99% of the work was done by the same dealer over the life of the truck. Original window sticker as well!

Set up my Torque gauges yesterday. Might be too many as sometimes not all show up and/or it locks up at times.

Still looking for a new phone holder and charger for the EX. Delta is the difference between coolant and oil temps. I have read that a 15 deg rise in oil temperature or more over coolant temperature is cause for concern (at least with the original EGR still in tact. EGR has been blocked/turned off in some way and I am not sure of how just yet. The PO didn't seem to be up on it and it was done back in 2007 when he had EGR issues. I am having it looked over this Saturday to find out more.

Rich (screename Tugly) has a ton of write ups and participation in Torque Pro and its shenanigans. He's a 7.3 guy, but the knowledge of setting up the app is the same.

The most I've seen operating smoothly is 8 at a time from others posts.

Well there is the scantool OBDII device and then there is the Chinese clones. I have not had good luck with the clones. They just aren't reliable and just quit working for me (3 of them). I now have the scantool MX model and have the communication speed set to "fast". I have seen his thread and will go look for it again. I couldn't find it the other day but I couldn't remember his screen name.

Found me some tow mirrors from a 2006 SD for $100. Heat, turn and running, power adjust IIRC. They should clean up and fit nicely. The other guy moved up to 2008 style.

Also read the LED thread and ordered all interior LED replacements for it. Talking with Tony in the headlight thread for getting some of those headlights as seen in post 204.
