So I have replaced darn near everything to do with the brakes on my 79 and still not that great when I start to push the pedal I can feel the brakes grab alittle but not much when the pedal gets all the way to the end it's like they are grabbing but I need more pedal to really make them grab could I have the wrong booster and pedal set up like they aren't the right ones for each other would that make it so it seems like I need more pedal room? I have a donor bronco that I know has the correct pedals and booster set up so should I just go ahead and swap it all out
B4 you just throw more parts at it you should do some checking to see whats wrong. What you describe could be anything from a master cylinder to a brake line. Or anything in between.
Trust me I haven't just thrown parts at it. I've bench bled all the air out of the new master I've bled all the air out I have no leaks no buldging lines the rears are properly adjusted I can jack the truck up all four corners push the brakes and they hold tight. My last and final thought is that the pedal isn't high enough to start with and that I don't have enough travel to get full brakes. I even adjusted the booster push rod properly
The booster I have has a short rod coming out that attaches to a piece of metal then it attaches to the pedal the other booster would attach straight to the pedal
check the backing plates on the rear brake drums. I've run into problems on my 78 because one of the backing plates was AFU. it made for a fun bit of troubleshooting to find out why the brakes were always soft.
