I have a step side box. Ordered chains for it, had none when I got it. The chains are short in length. I cannot open my tailgate to the point it would normally be at. Ordered these through LMC, wondering if anyone has found the correct length chains somewhere else?

LMC's catalogs are rife with errors and omissions. What were the applications for the chains?
What length is the Flareside (Stepside is a Chevrolet) bed, 6 1/2' or 8' or 9' if an F350?
After some 40 plus years, and a couple sets of tailgate chains, decided to go with wire cables as opposed to chain. Entered hardware store and measured for the appropriate diameter and length wire cable; included additional length for wrapping the cable over the cable thimbles, then used the store professional crimper, 'important' for securing the ferrules at both ends; one can use the rubber covers for few $ more. Once the cables were made, used mini cable clamps to attach the original tailgate end pieces. Seem to recall both replacement wire cables came to around $30-40? Of course, owner interested in maintaining the original appearance should perhaps purchased the chain set up.
Where's the fun in that! make it custom, make it your own.
MAR-K also sells a really trick hidden hinge and latch set for the "Flareside.
Will have to check out the 'MAR-K' hinge?
The wire cable configuration was not planned, kinda something myself and the store attendant came up with, could not beat the price; although, failed to mention decided to purchase the plastic coated wire cable at an additional cost, stripped couple inches off the ends for inserting into the ferrules.
