Sync 4.6 Update issue
[Windows Mobile for Automotive 5.8]
Item1 = 8L2T-14D546-AF
Open1 = SyncMyRide\8L2T-14D546-AF.CAB
Item2 = E1BT-14D546-HC
Open2 = SyncMyRide\E1BT-14D546-HC.cab
however the zipped file name for E1BT-14D546-HC.cab is actually E1BT-14D546-hc.cab
I am going to try renaming the autoinstall to match the actual file name and see what happens. Has anyone else noticed this?
Okay after trying this many times and all the different combinations Ford Support and this blog said I got it to work. This is what I did:
1-Downloaded the file and exported it
2- Opened the two lst files and ensured all the names where exactly the same as in the syncmyride folder. Specifically upper or lower case. The ones that where not I renames appropriately so they where the same
3- Removed the negative battery connection and let sit for 3 minutes.
4- reconnected battery
5- ran the update (after it said it was complete mine ended up playing the AM radio)
That was it then I took the usb back to my computer and it did confirm I was updated.
I have a 2010 Ford Flex SEL Limitied AWD... That said, I found myself facing the same quandry as others.. My phone (Samsung S20 FE) received a forced update. The next day, I go and jump in the FLEX, and suddenly, SYNC was no longer "grabbing onto" my phone and triggering my tunes to start playing.. I tried repairing the phone, performing a full reset of the SYNC bluetooth, resetting my APIM module with my ForScan app, etc.. NOTHING worked.. that is until I found this post!
In the back of my mind I already had a hunch that I'd need to update my SYNC to the newest-available version. I went to the site for the update.. entered my VIN, downloaded the update; extracted the files all to the root directory of an exFAT formatted flash drive (as per instructions on the Ford SYNC update page). - I remember thinking that using exFAT format sounded a bit odd, given the age of my FLEX. - Sure enough, it wouldn't work no matter what I tried.. using a all my available different thumbdrives, etc.. I was about to give up on it when I saw someone comment that one should try formatting the flash drive in FAT32. I tried it.. and viola!! It WORKED!
So, I'm assuming that anything older than say 2014ish is likely going to need the flash drive in FAT32 format. Also folks.. when you run the update, be patient! Mine took somewhere around 7-8 minutes.. so depending on the speed of the flash drive you're using, it could take longer! Good luck, folks.. and thanks for the help!
