I am sticking with Valvoline semi-synthetic Durablend. That's what my Ford dealer offers with their "Best" oil change, and it's what I have been using for over two years now in all my vehicles (see gallery for vehicles). I've been using 5w30 all year round.
It is nice to see so many opinions, of the dino oils which do you think would best fit my application. I drive 5 miles into school, shut off the truck, cruise around town during lunch hour, then drive 5 miles home, with the occasional 90 mile trip.

The best oil to use is the one with the following: the right service rating for your vehicle, the right viscosity for your motor-driving style-conditions-type of driving(short trips vs long trips) and regular oil changes.
When you use this oil you will rarely have problems.
Pennzoil with purebase is now made with the same technology as Chevron Supreme. It is a Group II hydrocracked, isodewaxed oil that should provide excellent results if used within the confines of a dino oil. I am not sure if Quakerstate is Group II oil though...
i was under the impression that quaker state/pennzoil are now the same company. ive used pennzoil for years, just like my dad did. no oil related engine problems. just use the right grade, new filter every change and change @ 3mo / 3,000 mi. its all in the maintenence in my opinion._____________________'93 ranger s/c 4x4 4.0 5spd
My vote goes to Mobile 1 synthetic oil. Then probably to Castrox GTX Syntec. I quit using regular oil when I put some in my motorcycle and could really feel a difference in the clutch and transmission. I think with today's technology it's hard to beat a synthesized motor oil for heat breakdown and wear resistance.
I used Quaker state ultimate durability in my F150 since New.Now 75,000 miles later the in side of the engine still looks new.I do between 5 and 6000 oci. No worries
Bumping a soon to be 11 year old thread I see. You can compare the latest motor oil recipies here & this link has the SN/GF-5 mineral oil recipe for 5W-30 Quaker State, Pennzoil & some others for comparison. Petroleum Quality Intitute of America
Here is a link to their 5W-30 Synthetic recipie & noitce the improvement in the NOACK % evaporation from the apparent use of the higher quality GTL Gp lll+ base oils in the formula. March 2013 - Test Results for AP
Then note the improvement in NOACK for the latest round of SN/GF-5 mineral oil 5W-20 tests, as it seems Shell is letting Pennzoil & Quaker State use their over stock of GTL Gp lll+ base oil in their 5w-20 mineral oil also!!! The Petroleum Quality Institute of America
So, as times change, so do the quality of our engine oils & its a struggle to try & keep up with it all, but if we do, we can come by some mighty good lubes for our engines, that can be had for not too much of our gold if we buy on special!!!
