I've got a 79 supercab 4x4 that I've been slowly building and the cab is totally rusted out and crap. In my search for a clean supercab cab I found a decent crew cab 2wd for sale. How hard would it be to mount a crew cab can on a supercab chassis? I'm going with a flat bed so the box is a non issue. I'm assuming I would need to move the rear cab mounts at the very least. Anybody ever done this or seen it? Or is this a pipe dream. Lol. Thanks
Double check your frame widths, you'll need to relocate your rear mounts anyway but you may have to move your cab holes inboard by an inch and a half each. Firewall forwards is the same so there shouldn't be any problems.
Hmm so it sounds doable anyways. The one I'm looking at is a long ways away but at least I know it's possible. I will broden my search a bit now and see what I come up with. Thanks for your quick response.
I'm in the process of doing exactly what your asking. But i started with a 2wd supercab long bed frame. front bolts up just as usual but you will have to move rear frame brackets. my build is a little different though as i started with a f600 crew cab and they have different mounts front and rear. My cab was so badly rotted i cut it in the middle of the door jamb and sectioned in the front half of a regular cab f150 a buddy had laying around. I'm still working on the rear cross member. The rear cab cross member on the f600 and bigger trucks is about 5 inches tall whereas a one ton and lighter trucks are only about 1 1/2 high. I am shortening my long bed by 11 inches. I have it mocked up on the frame and so far i don't believe ill have to run a body lift to keep the boy lines straight. The supercab frame has quite a rise in it about where the rear cab mounts go.
Hey pinto I hope your doing a build thread for that truck. We'd all love to see it. I wish I could find some of those doors I'd love to have that handle style.

i havent started a build thread yet but have plenty of pictures from day one when my dad and myself went and cut the cab off the f600 up until now. if i can find the time ill try and start one. its been a little over a year and a half in the making. My daughter just turned one so she has stolen my attention away from it but id have it no other way. Hoping to get back out in the garage here soon
Pinto it looks as if you made your own radius arms so you can ditch the caps on the stock Ford C-Cap arms? Did you keep the 2wd coils or did you modify/fab the lower coil bucket? Are you going to use a tracbar or? We missed out on a crewcab that had 68K original miles for the wife and I do have a long bed super cab that I bought to shorten and put one of my other SC's onto. I am thinking looking at yours that maybe I should just try and fine a good crewcab cab and built it on the SC chassis and chop the bed as well.

I built the radius arms using 2 1/4 .250 wall tubing for the main arm and 2 inch .250 wall for the short arm. I used ballistic fab rebuildable joints that have a 1 1/2 shank. Using the factory super duty trac bar and mount. Also fabbed up the coil pockets out of 1/4 inch wall steel. set them up to use the stock 05 f250 diesel coils. If it sits too high i can swap in lighter rate 5.4 4x4 springs or even 2wd springs.
