Ok i have a 92 f250 extended cab. But figure the 150 and 350 would share the same dash
Ok my idea (i want to install a toggle switch bank,5 spots) the little cubby hole below columb slightly to the right. Was thinking of making a closeout panel and then mounting switches in panel, drilling a hole through backside for wiring to run through.
Has anyone else done this or know of another clean way to install 5 switches. The switches i have are the drill a hole and insert kind, not the square cutout design. Thanks for any help or ideas.
That should work fine as long as the switches are small enough to fit in the "pocket".. A friend of mine did exactly what you are saying, but as I remember he only needed 3 switches..
If your switches won't fit you might use "mini" switches and use relays to make up for the lower amperage if you need heavy duty circuits.
Actually i used my cell phone forba rough size comparison of hole and all 5 will fit with sone room inbetween to spare. Was really just curious if it had been done before.
Do you know what he made the closeout panel with. I was thinking sheet metal just havnt figured out finer details of how to attach it in

It's been several years and my memory ain't what it used to be! I'm thinking he used stiff plastic of some sort, he made it big enough for it to lap out onto the flats outside the "pocket" and used 4 small trim screws to mount it, you'll want it removable for maintenance and rewiring if needs change .. Of course you could use sheet metal as well, it might even be easier than plastic to get it to the shape of the dash.
If you paint it to match the dash no one will even notice it's there..
