My dash panel came in last night........(thanks Ed) now I have a couple of questions for those that have done it before. First off what is the best way to cut the holes for the gauges? I am assuming a 2 1/16" whole saw is the best way to go. Also what did you use for a backing behind the bondo for the extra space at the bottom of where the switches go....and what's the best way to cut the hole wider where the switches go....dremel?
I used a 2 inch hole saw then filed out to make the guage a tight fit. If you start with a 2 1/16 and it isnt perfect the guage will not fit tight. I am using a piece of dash filler panel under the switches, that is where I'll be mounting my USB connector for my DP F6. I wont have any pics until I get started on the install if I ever have time.
Thanks Darrell.....that makes alot of sense on the 2" hole saw. I do want them to fit tight so I don't have to use the brackets to hold them in from the back. Don't know when I'll have a chance to get started on it....hopefully soon.
Same as Darrell, I used a 2 inch hole saw. I filed the edges slightly to ensure that the gauge fit tightly. Instead of using bondo to fill the gap at the bottom of the switches I used a piece of black plastic (slightly textured to match the dash texture). Here is a pic:
How did you guys label your switches ?? I see they are pretty custom to what they are for ! That looks pretty sharp Chris ! I see you have a CB in there.. I have a VHF and was wondering if was going to fit underneath on that flat looking spot ??? Myself and Ryan (highoctane) are going to do this mod together when we get a chance !! Looks great guys !

Thanks for the compliment. The icons of some of my switches don't really match what I use them for, but I used a Brother lable maker with black tape and white lettering. I relabled them all so they would match.

They light up, well at least mine do. You can get ones that don't if you like. The icons light up green when I turn the dash lights on and then when the switch is activated, the bottom of the switch lights up red.
Nice Chris ! Looks great man ! I'm dong it when I can find all the parts and pieces ! and some time ! March sometime it will have to be ! Thanks for the info !

I like the looks of just using the plastic at the bottom of the switches, would be alot faster than using bondo also. So next question....where did you come up with the piece at? Thanks........Kevin
Where did ya'll get the 650 dash, and prices?
How about the switches?
I got mine from Ed. I don't have my switches yet looking into some different ones than most use don't know what I will go with yet but here is Ed's link. Th!nk Parts Guy/FTE Parts Guy
