It's a two stroke, no valves to worry about skidoo has been doing that since like 97.
I have no problem with 2-Strokes running backward, but water pumps and secondary CV clutches would probably not work as well...
Heck, we had 2-Stroke diesels in the service that ran backward as well...
Funny that came up, I always assumed the same for water pumps because of the directional vanes. Just the other day I was checking out boat parts and saw this note on a Mercruiser water pump:
Fits GM V6 & V8 small block engines with steel and/or composite timing cover and made for standard rotation and reverse rotation engines (bi-directional).
I guess some water pumps work equally well in both directions.

I believe the helix in the secondary is cut on the backside similar to the front. You can go pretty fast in reverse.
