Can someone tell me where the return line out of the wiper motor originally went? I have an '49 with the vacuum line going to the valve in the dash, then to the wiper motor. The other line has been plugged off. I am going to assume it went into the original oil bath air filter, which is long gone. I have an '52 which I went and looked at and it has a port in the top of the carb for the "return", which the '49 doesn't.
Where can I plumb it to so the wiper will function?
That's a first for me. Never heard of a "return line" for a vacuum wiper motor. Mine has a vacuum line to the motor only, with a short cable from the **** that operates the control on the motor.
I'm fairly sure mine had a small felt pad on the air inlet ("vacuum exhaust") which kept dirty air from being sucked into the wiper motor or engine via the vacuum "exhaust"while running the wipers.

OK thanks both of my other trucks have a vacuum hose exiting back through the firewall towards the carb, but not attached to anything. Evidently the exaust/inlet is plugged because the wiper motor doesn't work as I have vacuum to the motor. When I turn the valve on I can hear vacuum.

Thanks for the replies.
Quite possibly there is your answer. Unplug those lines and the wipers may work.

Are your "other trucks" Fords? Only one vacuum line in one every car/truck that I have seen including older Jeeps.
This may help" That is a cable running to the switch.
