It's been a while since I had gutted my cab out for paint and all and now I'm getting back to restoring my cab. in order to save a little cash and maybe have something else to do once my project is finished in going to use the stock wiper motor for now and swap it out with an electric later on. My question is, in order for the stock wiper to work, I know I need a vacuum line to my engine but for the life of me, I can't remember what kind of wiring it needs. Can anyone point me in the right direction for installing the original wiper motor? Like I said, later on I'll replace it with an electric motor but I'm just saving some money now.
Thanks,
No wiring to the vacuum wiper motor. The control is the round *** atop the dash that controls the cable to the wiper motor. Hint: Make certain the wiper is in good shape prior to reinstalling it.
Thank you for the advice! I was thinking that it didn't have any but then I thought, maybe there was a wire and I just overlooked it. Thank you for the help!
Unless you plan on driving the truck in the rain a lot, there's not much need to change out the vacuum wiper to electric. Even then, there are ways to improve the performance of the vacuum wipers; reserve vacuum tank inline or a vacuum/fuel pump which was used back in the day, instead of straight off the manifold. My 2c.
Thank you for the reply! I had just always heard the pros of going electric I suppose but I don't see much issue with vacuum wipers either. I'm running a 302 so I'm assuming I may have a beefier vacuum pressure? My parents had a 48 f1 with a 350 with vacuum wipers and they did pretty good from what I can remember. I may stay with vacuum possibly after this discussion. Thank you guys as always!
