timing gear covers, 2 revisions????
as im flowing down feces creek with no paddle,
battling a water leak, that I have been struggling to cure....
I ran across 2 different types of front timing gear covers.
one is completely flat.
the other has extra stamping in the plate that I thought was a flaw, but now appears to be a factory revision.
look closely at the water pump mounting surface.
the cover with the white background is a item I found on e-bay as a OEM part.
the others are the covers ive tried to install and failed.
can anyone shed some light on this?
maybe a revision date?
why the revision was done, etc?

Cant help you, but good to know you can get these aftermarket. The one that came off mine is very nearly eaten through in places.

this is not being produced for the aftermarket to my knowledge.
this piece is original equipment. but if you would like to search it some more, the part number is: E3TZ-6B070-A

Thanks for the heads up. Sorry my brain thinks that anything that doesnt come from a junk yard and can be bought new is aftermarket.

I don't see the extra stamping. Is it on the new cover? I see the pitting on your old cover

cover came in today.
bran new item. never been installed.
I lightly hit it with the DA sander to show you the elevated spots.
this is not a imperfection.
I have 2 covers exactly the same as this, and 3 that are completely flat.

Maybe they had an issue with water pump rubbing on the flat ones, so the indent was made?
What is the leak you are fighting?
