I have a 351W in my 81 F-150 with a C-6 automatic tranny and I'd like to switch to a 5 speed manual. Any thoughts on what I should use or is there a swap kit that has everything I need? Also what could I possibly sell my C-6 for? It has almost 200,000 miles on the transmission but I know they're a bullet proof transmission.
The best way is to find a junker with the tranny you want. It will have the correct tranny mounts, driveshafts, underdash pedals, hydraulic clutch system, wiring, etc.
I second the junker route. That's the route I would have to take to do my C6 to AOD swap and do it right. problem is there are no junker 80-86 trucks here with a AOD they all are standards or C6s. I just have to go another route for mine probably going to go with a Gear Vendors unit myself as in the long run it would cost me less than piecing the parts I need out piece by piece.
But if you have a parts truck in your area or a junked one at a junk yard it would be cheaper than sourcing out the parts singly.
Hey guys,
I'm trying to figure out this site so I apologize if I am interrupting. I have a1996 F-250 with a 460 and E40D tranny. I'm thinking about converting it to a manual, using the ZF S5-47. Any suggestions or concerns?

Go to the proper forum as suggested, but yours may be a more complex swap, you have fuel injection and the electronic transmission. Your computer is not going to be happy if you take the electronic trans out and put a manual in it's place. Even bigger reason to get a donor/junker. You could get the wiring and the proper computer out of the junker.
