All I can say Bobby it starts when you are a kid after school I kinda got thrust

Most before had Buick Fireball straight 8s then mid fifty's Detroit diesel which we had. as time goes on I ended up behind a microphone desk and shirt and tie. I'll find a pic for you back when I was somebody........Here is me in a fairly new Flxible leaving that boy now is getting grey hairs on his head now . the good times the good days gone...............

On the Flxible. As a teenager I was tasked with helping part out one of those beasts while working in my uncle's "junkyard".. The time was mid 1950s, the bus line had fallen on hard times and the engine in their main bus had failed. The tires all need replacement, the interior was in need of much work so the bus was sold for scrap. The engine was the large Buick as used in the Roadmasters. Power was thru what I remember, a three speed transmission. The clutch, what a monster, believe the disk was bronze. That thing was a beast.

What I see is pre 1949 Clipper 29-33-37 passenger BR model. The clutch is a Pull type Spicer common (the disk was bronze?) that would be a metallic disk, again a common replacement than fibre. the 320 CID Buick eight bought in the thousands, was De Buick'd ; Flxible installed heavy duty pistons hard valve seats some had sodium valves. Flxible cast their own exhaust manifolds and flywheels and bellhousings. Some early in the 40's had compound carburetors a custom double oil pan with a clean out on the bottom to clean oil screen.. Bottom line is Flxible turned the Roadmaster engine into industrial. I can still here that sound and they ran & ran.
Also this engine was used way after the overhead nail head Buicks must have had a lot straight 8s in stock then came White 390 Mustang and Fageol overhead cam jobs. Just picture the left side of the plant,, you want to see a 1/8 mile of lathes milling machines big time shapers automatic screw machines 200 ton stamping machines.
I was taken what a sight last time I was there. oh all had a 4 speed Spicer 3441 sam

Looking at the scenery here, I think they are at Redrock Canyon, Calif. I spend a lot of time here riding the dirt bike, since 1975. I actually bought my 55 for the purpose of hauling
my bikes.
