I like that Jeepster sitting next to it. I thought it looked newer than the Plymouths and Dodges in the lot, but upon research it looks like it is a 48-49. And it looks like the inside is getting wet since there are no side windows.

This picture is of Canal street looking away from the river. The street cars were removed from the neutral ground and replaced by electric busses. Now the street cars were re installed back some years ago. To the left is the entrance to the French Quarter, Bourbon street.

We didn't have Gulf stations in my neck of the woods. Not even sure if they were on the west coast back then, and I'm pretty sure I've never bought gas at a Gulf station. Great picture, though. My recollection of the Gulf colors, my favorite orange and blue, came more from this, which when I was a kid was pretty cool stuff...

I know, kind of an old post but someone posted this picture on FB and I found out a little information. It was raised in the front to navigate flood water in the 1927 Mississippi flood.
